Ok so before we get into the coding 'hello world' aspect of mashups, we thought we'd try to trigger your brains into thinking about what might be interesting combinations of information that could support social interaction/awareness/etc.
From here - lcmdesign.com.au/dev/ - you'll find a couple of basic mashups that pull in data from flickr, twitter and/or delicious.
From outside - programmableweb.com - an amazing number of mashups out there for you to peruse/consider/play with.
Have a play around with a few, think about how you might expand/augment these, what would be interesting to do from a social perspective.
Do some brainstorming in your project group (don't forget to add a wiki page and document your ideas) about what you might create from the information that is out there. [Programmable web provides links to over 400 api's for use]. Don't limit yourself to the technology, the how - think about what would be interesting to know/do/see, think back on your experiences with any number of sites and what from another could augment/improve your experiences here.
The wiki is available via the course website.
